Learning Your Client’s Love Language

Learning Your Client’s Love Language

Learning Your Client’s Love Language

May 25, 2019 Uncategorized

As a small business owner, you quickly learn that no client is created equal, and communication types is where the discrepancies show almost immediately.

Each client you work with has their own love language, if you will, when it comes to communicating. The idea of love languages was created by Dr. Gary Chapman, and he suggests through his research that each person has a specific way they like to be communicated with. Once that method has been established, trust and commitment are set in the partnership.

You already know that the like, know and trust factor is huge in building relationships with your clients. Thanks to technology, we now have so many ways of interacting with people that it can get a little overwhelming.

The focus has shifted and the client experience is now rated one of the most important aspects of working with a company. That can leave you as the business owner feeling scattered, but we want to assure you that this is an opportunity to give your client the special treatment they’ve been asking for.

Here are some ways to treat each client and speak their language.

First impressions. The first sit-down or interaction with your client is the best time to set all expectations of communication styles up front. You can ask how they like to receive information, what the best way to contact them is, and how much they’d like to hear from you.

Perspective. It can be hard to remember this, but small business owners are consumers too. You actively play the client role, so take a look at some of those relationships and figure out what works, and what doesn’t work, about each one. It can bring perspective about how you might want to treat your clients.

Go Above and Beyond. You’ll want to leave your client with a positive lasting impression, and put your signature on your product or service so that they won’t forget their experience. Standing out can be tough in today’s world, but think about how you can go above and beyond for your client on a project.
